This was recorded around the time I played on a track for “The Crow” soundtrack with Stephen Jenkins of the not-even-formed-yet Third Eye Blind. I’ll have to dig that cassette up; that track never made it to the movie. Anyways this band Shake Therapy was short lived as we just could not master the “get a gig” thing. This is a great track recorded on 1/2″ 8 track analog tape by my buddy Matt Singleton at Galaxy Studios where I first met Storm Large. Matt and I later partnered and ran the Blue Room Studios. I hope to record with Matt again in the not-too-distant future.
I wrote the music and the lyrics for this tune and really enjoyed playing with this singer and bass player. He wrote most of the songs for this group. I totally forgot his name! He was/is a really funky dude! He was really into Level 42 and Steely Dan. The keyboardist was named Marshall and was/is pretty damn good in retrospect. I used to yell at him when he did solos. I’d say “more fire more fire boy!”. I was kinda mean; sorry dude! He had a sweet Rhodes Piano. I wanted to be exceptional. That’s what I have always striven for in my music; otherwise why do it? The drummer is a dude name Chris and was always a steady-freddy groove and really mellow.
I think I am playing a beat-to-hell 67′ Telecaster with a humbucker pickup in the lead position through a
Marshall 50-watt 2-12″ speaker Combo. Still kick myself for selling that guitar.
